The Network Operations Engineer is a subject matter expert on routing and switching, responsible for maintaining the enterprise network and resolving issues as they arise. This role includes network device configuration, monitoring tool design and implementation, and detailed network analysis—collating and correlating multiple log files to ensure that live events run at the highest standard. Sitting at the intersection of network architecture and venue technology, the Senior Engineer must understand how venue systems traverse the broader network design.
The Senior Engineer provides Level 2 and Level 3 technical support, oversees change management, and fulfills requests for network devices such as routers, firewalls, and WAN optimization equipment.
Areas of Responsibility
- Install, operate, and maintain network infrastructure, serving as an administrator for production network systems.
- Execute troubleshooting and incident management as needed.
- Document LAN/WAN configurations and maintain architectural diagrams.
- Conduct periodic reviews of network infrastructure firmware and software.
- Create and maintain process documentation and status reports for leadership.
- Provide technical support for infrastructure, server, and network changes to ensure post-change functionality.
- Apply performance observations to assist architects in designing networks that mitigate risks and improve venue system functionality.
- Generate and execute service request/change tickets, escalate incidents when required, and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements
- 5+ years of enterprise network operations experience with hands-on troubleshooting of network outages.
- Experience supporting complex enterprise-level networks designed for fault tolerance.
- Strong background deploying monitoring and alerting tools, including integrations with event correlation platforms and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow).
- 3–5 years of experience supporting large events or venues.
- 4+ years working with enterprise platforms such as compute, storage, data centers, and automation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with advanced platforms such as Cisco, Citrix, Palo Alto, and Juniper.
