Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented SQL Developer to design, develop, and optimize business-critical SQL Server solutions across the enterprise data platform.

This role is responsible for building and enhancing SQL Server databases, T-SQL code, SSIS integration packages, SSRS reports, and SSAS analytical models that support key business processes, reporting, and analytics.

The developer will work closely with application development, data, infrastructure, and business teams to translate requirements into well-designed database solutions and deliver them through standard development and release processes.

As with all engineering roles on the team, the developer remains accountable for the solutions once they are live and will be required to provide production support, including incident triage, root cause analysis, and permanent fixes within agreed SLA commitments.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and deliver SQL Server solutions across Database, SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS components.
• Translate business and functional requirements into technical designs, data models, and database solutions.
• Develop, test, and deploy new functionality as well as enhancements to existing solutions.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and unit testing to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
• Prepare technical documentation, including data mapping, data flow, and deployment artifacts.
• Support production deployments, release activities, and post-deployment validation.

SQL Server Database Development

• Design, develop, and optimize SQL Server database objects, including

o Tables

o Views

o Stored Procedures

o Functions

o Indexes

o Complex T-SQL Queries

• Implement application business logic within stored procedures, functions, and T-SQL code.
• Performance tune queries and stored procedures using execution plan analysis and indexing strategies.
• Develop enhancements to existing queries, stored procedures, and database objects.
• Deliver database changes through source control and standard change and release processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data integrity, performance, and application-related database defects.

SSIS & ETL Development

• Design, develop, and deploy SSIS packages and ETL workflows for enterprise data movement.
• Build control flow, data flow, and transformation logic in line with development standards.
• Implement error handling, logging, restart ability, and data validation within packages.
• Enhance and optimize existing SSIS packages for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data load failures and package execution issues.

SSRS Report Development

• Design, develop, and deploy SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports, datasets, and subscriptions.
• Build parameterized, drill-through, and performance-optimized report designs.
• Validate report data accuracy against source systems.
• Deliver report enhancements and modifications requested by business users.
• Investigate and resolve report execution failures and performance issues.

SSAS Model Development

• Develop and maintain SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) multidimensional and tabular models.
• Build measures, KPIs, hierarchies, and calculations using MDX or DAX.
• Configure and tune cube processing, partitions, and refresh schedules.
• Ensure analytical models accurately reflect underlying business data.
• Investigate and resolve cube processing failures and data discrepancies.

Production Support & Problem Management

• Provide production support for SQL Server databases, SSIS packages, SSRS reports, and SSAS models, including participation in an on-call rotation as required.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents and data issues within agreed SLA commitments.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on recurring incidents and implement permanent code-level fixes.
• Monitor scheduled jobs, ETL loads, report subscriptions, and cube processing, and remediate failures.
• Recommend improvements to database design, ETL processes, reporting, and monitoring to improve stability and operational efficiency.
• Apply approved data fixes, service requests, and production validations as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong hands-on development experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
• Strong understanding of relational database design, data modeling, and SQL Server architecture.
• Experience designing, developing, and tuning:

o Tables

o Views

o Stored Procedures

o Functions

o Indexes and Complex T-SQL Queries

• Ability to translate business logic and requirements into well-structured SQL Server solutions.

ETL & Integration

• Strong hands-on experience developing SSIS packages.
• Experience building and optimizing ETL workflows and data transformation processes.
• Ability to troubleshoot data movement and integration issues.
• Understanding of end-to-end application and data flow.

Reporting & Analytics

• Experience developing reports and datasets in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
• Experience developing models in SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), including MDX or DAX.
• Ability to validate reporting and analytical data against source systems.
• Understanding of reporting and cube processing workflows.

Production Support & Operational Excellence

• Willingness and ability to provide production support for delivered solutions in a 24x7 operational environment.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. Experience
• 5+ years of hands-on SQL Server development experience in enterprise environments.
• Experience developing with:

o Microsoft SQL Server Database

o SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)

o SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

o SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)

• Experience designing and building database objects, ETL packages, reports, and analytical models.
• Experience delivering enhancements, service requests, and defect fixes through a formal release process.
• Experience supporting solutions in production, including Root Cause Analysis and release support.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, or other source control and release management tools.
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Snowflake, or Databricks.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
• Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.
• Advanced SQL Server performance tuning and query optimization skills.
