Summary:
The Workday Environment & Release Manager is responsible for managing Workday environments, deployments, releases, and production stability across the Workday platform.
This role oversees how changes move through sandbox, test, and production environments while ensuring proper governance, testing, approvals, and minimal business disruption.
The position works closely with HR, Finance, Payroll, Infrastructure, and Technology teams to coordinate deployments, maintain environment health, and support overall platform operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Workday environments/tenants including sandbox, implementation, and production.
- Coordinate and oversee Workday releases, deployments, migrations, and production changes.
- Support tenant refreshes, environment setup, and migration planning between Workday environments.
- Serve as the primary contact for Workday release governance and CAB/change control activities.
- Review and approve deployments based on testing, readiness, risk, and business impact.
- Monitor platform health, production issues, and environment stability across Workday.
- Maintain release schedules, deployment calendars, and environment documentation.
- Support Workday Customer Central transports and configuration promotions.
- Partner with HR, Finance, Payroll, Security, and IT teams to coordinate releases and operational support.
- Drive improvements around deployment automation, release processes, and environment governance.
- Ensure compliance with security, audit, and data privacy requirements including data masking practices.
Required Experience:
- 5+ years of Workday experience supporting environments, releases, deployments, or platform operations.
- Experience managing Workday tenants/environments and coordinating production deployments.
- Hands-on experience with Workday release management, migrations, and change control processes.
- Experience participating in CAB/change governance activities.
- Familiarity with Workday Customer Central and cross-tenant promotions.
- Experience supporting enterprise Workday platforms across HCM, Finance, and/or Payroll.
- Knowledge of ITSM/ITIL processes and production support best practices.
Preferred:
- Workday Pro Certification
- Experience with data masking tools such as Kainos SmartShield
- Experience with deployment automation or DevOps practices
